Skin Protection with Kids

This seems like such a simple idea, but many parents forget to protect their children’s skin when they are outside playing. I had a friend at the 4th of July parade that didn’t bring sunblock or a hat for her child, and he had fair skin. Sun can not only damage their skin, but the sun can dehydrate a child and make them sick. There are some simple ways to protect your child from the sun.

Product packaging has changes a lot in the last few years. You can now buy a bottle of sunblock that sprays directly onto the skin. You simply spray and rub. It makes less of a mess and is quick and easy to use. Whatever skin block you use, make sure to reapply if your child gets wet. If you know your child will be outside during the day, you can help put on sunblock as they get dressed. They even have lotions that contain sunblock now.

Don’t forget their eyes. Little kids can wear sunglasses to protect their eyes from the sun. A hat will do the job also. Sun can reflect off of shiny surfaces and glare back at them. Keep their eyes protected.

When the sun hides behind the clouds, don’t think that your child will be okay in the sun without protection. If the cloud cover is thin, the harmful rays will still get through and can burn your child. Also, we tend to forget skin protection in the winter. If it’s a sunny day with snow on the ground, the sun’s rays will bounce off the snow and can burn your child’s face.

Skin protection is such an easy step to take now to help protect your child. Give them the extra protection that their skin needs.

When do cigars really taste good?

Smokers are not choosy when or when not to smoke cigars. But, did you know that there are indeed great times when you would be able to smoke cigar and savor the greatest taste it could offer. These may seem odd but really true and those who are familiar with these times could surely attest to this one.

Here are some of the most wonderful times when you could smoke and feel every strand of it flowing through your throat smoothly:

1. Happy birthday to me

Well, it is your day and gives yourself a break. Smoking a good cigar on your birthday would really be something you could give to your very self. You could have this as your way of celebrating life.

2. After thanksgiving puff it out

During this meal, which could be one the biggest sumptuous meals you could have for the whole year, it would be good if you enjoy a great smoke after filling up your stomach. A smoke would come really great with a dessert drink as well.

3. A milestone, a smoke

There are these great moments in your life when you bring out that achiever in you. You deserve to celebrate! As you smoke, you could remind yourself how good you were on doing such a great job.

4. Weekend escapade

You could turn out the weekend into a great one. After a tiring week at work, give yourself a treat by just sitting around, feeling the breeze, the empty schedule, just feeling lazy and chilling.

5. Gamble and have a cigar

There is that “manly” effect caused by smoking while gambling. This could also help you out in relaxing while enjoying the game you are playing. This is a very good way of gambling, you take control of your luck as you taste your favorite cigar.

These are worth the smoke moments and you do not want to miss them, do you? Well, it is your moment and celebrate with the great way of relaxing, feeling free, letting loose and that is by smoking your favorite cigar.

Tips on Saving Wisely

Have you ever consider how much money you have earned over your working life. Even if you do not have a really high paying job, chances are that the amount is impressive. For example, if you earn an average of $25,000 per year, in 40 years you will have made $1,000,000. Or if you earn an average of $45,000 per year, after 40 years this would mean you earned $1,800,000. Now consider how much of that figure you have saved.

Of course, everyone knows that you have bills to pay. There are home and shelter payments, food to buy, taxes to pay, monthly utilities, and so on. But it is still important that you have a savings portion as well to be totally comfortable and in control of your finances.

You need to have a savings plan that includes three accounts. The first is for an emergency fund. Life always gives you little challenges to overcome and that is where this fund comes in. This fund should be set up in case of an emergency, such as the loss of a job, sickness, a major household repair or even a need for a new car. Having an emergency fund can protect your family from financial disaster. A good rule of thumb is to have at least the amount of three months salary in your emergency fund.

The next account you need to set up in your financial plan is for short-term savings. This fund takes care of your short-term ‘wish’ list. Say perhaps you want to purchase that big screen T.V. or want a fancy new car (emphasis on ‘want’ and not ‘need) then this is the place where you can save up for that item (instead of simply putting it on your credit card). You can also use this fund for that family vacation you may want in the near future. Using a separate savings fund in this way will enable you to avoid the ‘credit card trap’.

Alone for the Holidays?

Being alone is a challenge for many people. This challenge may loom especially large during the holidays if you are single or newly divorced and without family around you. Holidays are a time to share love, and many people end up feeling depressed when they do not have people around with whom to share love. If you are in this situation, what can you do to make the holidays joyous rather than depressing?

The key phrase here is SHARE LOVE. Too often people think in terms of getting love rather than giving and sharing their love. They don’t realize that it is the act of giving their love that is so very fulfilling.

Gail had grown up very lonely in an emotionally distant family, with parents who did not freely give their love and relatives who were also cold and distant. She had married an emotionally distant man, and after 7 years of more loneliness, had decided to leave him. This was her first holiday season alone.

Gail decided that she was not going to be alone and lonely again this holiday season. She did some research on service agencies that needed volunteers and discovered a women’s shelter in her area for women and their children who were hiding from physically abusive husbands. The shelter was badly in need of funds for food, which Gail didn’t have. What she did have was the time to help gather food. Each day, after her job as a secretary, Gail went around to the markets in her area until she found some willing to donate Thanksgiving dinners for the mothers and their children. Then, on Thanksgiving Day, she spent her time at the shelter cooking, decorating, serving, and having Thanksgiving dinner with these brave women who had left their abusive husbands to save themselves and their children. It was the best Thanksgiving she ever had! By choosing to share her love with people who needed her, she felt filled with love.
